React to the following quote from The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde: “Every impulse that we strive to strangle broods in the mind and poisons us.”

As the most impulsive sign in the zodiac of course I had to answer this question.

What do I think this means?

I think it means that those emotions and impulses that we try to bury and compartmentalize, just grow bigger within you until you really do something stupid and impulsive. They will fester inside of you until you convince yourself that it was the right choice. That you just HAD to do it or say it or go there. It's you being toxic with yourself.

If you know me, then you know I can't conceal emotions. I can't conceal facial expressions. And with my impulsive behavior, it's really hard to keep it under control. If I have questions, I need answers. If I really really want to do something, it's really hard to talk me out of it. There is always a constant battle in my head about the things I should do and the things I want to do. Depending on where this debate catches me mentally, will determine which would win, the shoulds or the wants.

I'm proud of how self aware I am of my bullshit, I'm not proud of how I don't listen to my own advice. I'm still a work in progress so eventually I'll get there.
