Friendships....

I met my best friend when we were 14, i love the shit out that girl. We've seen each other grow up, been there through pregnancies, birthdays, breakups, all kinds of shit. I love the way that no matter how much time passes when we see each other its like no time has passed. We talk about anything and everything. Unfortunately in recent years we've drifted apart, you now how it is. Life, kids, jobs, and the fact that we live in different states doesn't help. I say all that just to talk about something I've come to realize as of late.

As we get older the dynamic in our friendships changes so much. I think of it as growing up. I genuinely feel like people don't really drift apart, they just grow up. The older i get the less tolerant I am of a lot of things. My circle gets smaller but the quality is unmatched. The people in my life now that i consider my true friends, really are my true friends. They are people i can really rely on and add substance to my life. They contribute to my growth and don't "yes" me to death. I've reached a point where brutal honesty is most appreciated. Let me tell you about some of them....

Rich- my best guy friend, brutally honest is an understatement. This man has literally made me cry! I love him for it. He's very tell it like it is and I know I can trust him with anything without judgement. Well i don't know if its without judgement because the number of times he's called me a hot mess, and told me I'm doing too much, and told me I'm wildin' is quite often. I value his opinion so much because as harsh as it may be, it comes from a place of love. Sometimes I envy his nonchalant attitude.

Haydee- this is my girl! We've known each other for years but only in recent years have we developed a true friendship. I love her because she's honest, crazy and fun. Our conversations are great becasue we can literally talk about anything and we just understand each other. Our text thread is ridiculous! It shifts from sex talk, to complaints about the guys we date, to work stuff, kid stuff, and she's even helped me pick out which nudes look best to send to my guy lmao. There is no filter, no restraint, no judgement in our friendship.

Clarissa-I haven't known her long but I love the person she is. She just radiates love, light and positivity. I feel like she just understands. Glad I met her, plus our kids are besties so we're stuck with each other lol.

Shanny- my bff, my oldest friend, confidant, keeper of all my secrets. I LOVE YOU BITCH!! We're stuck with each other we know too much lmao.

Rey- my biggest fan! the way you cheer me on and motivate me is so cool. I love our conversations because they're usually filled with positivity and acceptance. I could tell you anything and you hype me up like its the greatest thing since sliced bread lol. I love that we can talk about anything and its an actual intelligent conversation. Intelligence is sexy af!!

Jen & Selenie- I don't know where I'd be without you two. I could never repay the way you've supported me over the years and the way you have helped me get through the toughest moments of my life. I'm so grateful for you guys, your support, your love, your advice, just everything. You guys rock!

So as you guys can see, my circle of friends isn't huge but its filled with the right people. It's filled with love and people that care. So, a little advice- if you ever have to question a friendship, or you don't feel like the other party is giving you as much effort as your'e giving them, it's time to re-evaluate and really sit down and think is this person contributing to my success or to my life?
